I guess the key is going to be whether the Kodak gallery allows sharing on message boards. Some image hosts don't.

If you find that's the case, you may still have made a worthwhile investment of time, because once you get the photos posted in the Kodak gallery, you should be able to download them back to your desktop and then upload them to Photobucket.

I did a quick search on this last night and thought the eHow page on working with photos in Windows XP might be worth a look:

Thanks again to both of you ladies. Beachrat, please don't worry about firing up your old computer for the Easyshare. I should be able to come up with something by then. Your mention of "the gallery" was helpful as I think it is the only option for upload. Loading the software to my laptop allowed me to get a gallery account so I am working on that angle. If I ever become wealthy, I will hire, instead of a personal assistant, a digital assistant! Smiley People like me, digitally challenged, are annoying! Roll Eyes

Just to show how these stories "get legs" and how these people are killing the goose that lays their golden eggs[...]All the $$ spent by GWTIDA, Cape May Co and NJ Dept of Tourism cannot offset this type of coverage!! SHAME ON YOU!

Too bad that got into the Associated Press mill, but at least AP gave it a slight spin in the right direction, making the locals sound vaguely silly—for example, including in a very brief coverage the example of city employees in Brigantine putting those coarse, childish "I Ain't No FOOT" bumper stickers on their cars. Fools is what they are...

The mere presence of a notice in my room at the Attaché forbidding me to burn a candle was quite irksome. Smiley That doesn't make it wrong; a motel proprietor has the right to impose and enforce any standard of conduct he wants...

I can't say I've ever noticed such a restriction in the rules elsewhere, but that's a pretty sensible request.  Why risk someone leaving a candle burning, further increasing the chances of what could be a bad accident at the Motel?  That doesn't mean people won't light candles anyway.  I'm not picking on you particularly - just sayin'...

Of course it's sensible, that's why I put the smiley there. The rule being irksome doesn't mean it's wrong, the rule being justified doesn't mean I have to like it. Such is life.  Cool

Exactly—who knows. One thing we do know is that most adults don't take well to being told how to behave, or submitting to restrictions, but we accept that we have to deal with it in the workplace and ultimately in society to make things function (including our own solvency and security). But on vacation we all look forward to doing what WE want to do for a change. So the chances are that any correction by the manager of our home away from home is not going to be well received at all, and we will tend to exaggerate or fabricate associated "errors of tone." The mere presence of a notice in my room at the Attaché forbidding me to burn a candle was quite irksome. It saddens me to think that the local folks regard the tourists with such distain. It seems similar to inviting guests to your home and then mistreating them and making fun out of them after the leave. undecided
I know that the Disneys folks came to Wildwood years ago to study the Boardwalk ,and then duplicated the very best of what the saw....I think all of the shore towns should take a lesson from Disney on how they treat their guests so well that they easily spend their money, because of the quality of the experience and can't wait to return.
I have seen and felt less of this attitude in recent years...but the local folks should be thankful everyday for the tourists/shoobees that pour into town to spend their money and enjoy themselves.

it's not cool for them to agree to 3PM, then you only go maybe an hour past that, and they spring it on you that the maids are gone, if that's the way it played out.

No, I'm pretty sure he mentioned that concern when I first asked for the extension, and I was the one who picked the time, to which his consent was somewhat reluctant. My impression looking back is that he felt 3:00 was pushing it but didn't want to say no because we had been on friendly terms up to that point. Then when I pushed it another hour he was kicking himself for not giving me an earlier deadline to begin with.

Quote:
they could have just told you at 1PM sorry, the maids leave at ____, we need you out by 2.

Perhaps my mention of being "sluggish" upthread was misleading; this was not a case of asking for a checkout extension so I could sleep off a wild night. Those days are a decade behind me.  Cool So, no, they had no way of getting hold of me to tell me to pick up the tempo, or ask if the maids could come in, because I wasn't in the room from mid-morning until right around 3:00—I was out getting my last licks, including a final tour of the shirt shops.  Roll Eyes

He was right, I was wrong, period. That's the main reason I got upset to the point of tears at the time: I knew he was right and was mad at myself for screwing up.

sorry, did not mean to start a discussion on this, but as mentioned, I did hear that the guy there was not too polite, so was just curious if it was a pattern.

Right, I figured that was why you asked, but I didn't want to just ignore the question.

Quote:
Granted, this is hearsay, but the person I know said the guy came up yelling and screaming because he had some friends visiting in his room, not overnight guests, but just people hanging out having a few drinks before they went out for dinner, and the owner made them leave.  And were not talking a wild party, just basically a handful of 40 something year olds having a few pops and shooting the breeze while the wives were getting ready.  sounds a bit harsh.  who knows

Smiley That doesn't make it wrong; a motel proprietor has the right to impose and enforce any standard of conduct he wants, including, for example, restrictions on visitors intended to limit noise in service of the greater good of all guests. I would like to add specifically in that regard that I've seen a number of stories on Trip Advisor, concerning different properties, about owners who prohibit visitors in rooms or charge a fee for the privilege.

Greg deserves the benefit of the doubt about this story and I think it would have been more fair not to even mention it. It's hearsay, as you said, and unworthy of being immortalized (tongue in cheek) here.

Pedestrian Malls as a trend were a major failure. Holly Beach Station was a major effort to copy the sucess of the Cape May Washington Street Mall (The only place I know that has worked!).
I saw the same sad results in Pittsburgh when millions of dollars were spent to convert a thriving section of town into a walking mall...the result...same as Holly Beach . a..disaster.
A thriving business district (Pacific Ave)was assasinated by the Holly Beach plan. Angry

Yikes Warren,
I haven't used the Easyshare software for a few years (my Kodak camera died on me), but from what I recall the only upload option it gave you was for the Kodakgallery site.

If you're enlarging the photo and saving it on your pc, but it's not making it to the forum that way, maybe you're not choosing the right size option on Photobucket.  Try checking that.

If that still doesn't work, I think I still have the Easyshare software installed on my old desktop at home.  I can mess with it and see whether I can shed any light on things - but you'll have to wait until next week.

It shouldn't be this hard!!  I have to agree with kathi, photo software that comes with your camera is klunky.  I avoid it at all costs.  If you're going to do much of this kind of thing, I recommend investing in a card reader (good ones are less than $20), and then you can use Windows built-in features to copy your photos (even XP has this functionality)
