Up and down, up and down, up and down we travel through the Wildwoods, and after stopping at the Florentine in North Wildwood, it's time to head south to Wildwood where we find the Sea Shell Motel, directly across the street from the famous ice cream shoppe of the same name.

Located on Rio Grande Avenue one block from the beach, the Sea Shell Motel occupies some pretty valuable real estate, leading us to wonder how much longer this Wildwood icon will be with us. Originally built in the 1940's and expanded throughout the years, the motel predates the golden age of Wildwood's Doo Wop but nonetheless belongs in a category with them.

I remember seeing a few cars in their lot on a few winter trips I made to Wildwood. Were both sides there from the start?

They always spoke very highly of it.

Does anyone know if that's the case, and if it is, whether it's the motel or the ice cream shoppe? Do they share the same owner?

Its kinda like what Duffys is doing.. Foe sale over the winter for an expensive price. If there are no bites, they open as usual next summer..

inna nutshell... They are asking too much for th eproperty and if some developer is dumb enough to pay the asking they will retire. Otherwise its business as usual
