Is the Carousel sign still standing? The second thing you notice - after the empty lot - is the part of a neighboring motel that was never meant to be seen.

Great thread. It's cool to see people's interests, tastes and personalities come through in their choices. I like the occasional dashes of humor.

Martin: Love the Caribbean through the grille.

scca28: I agree on the boardwalk sign.

Al: You're an archivist and a connoisseur. Wink

hud: Love those early evening shots. It's a favorite time of day.
metalchick42: Dig the Vegas sign. Love the sly humor on the sea gull sign. The cartoon duck looks like it's saying you can feed me, if you want. Wink

Tech: You are definitely a night owl. The row of closed down boardwalk storefronts is very cool.
Kathi: Wildwood can be moody and misty amid all the fun. Who doesn't love neon floating in the night sky?
SandArtist: Like the interplay between the Wildwood sign and the kites. Also love the humor and whimsy.

I really like everything that was posted, even the stuff I failed to mention. Great contributions everyone.

Mark, the Carousel sign is no longer there. The Hialeah condo occupies the spot. I remember when the sign and the vacant spot were there.

Special faves since I last posted—
• Ken's (wildwood_since_85) Ocean Ave. shot as others have noted.
• Reply #47 from Al, especially the Blue Jay, Flame, Bayberry, and Martinique signs. Also the Surf Haven in #45, god I love that sign.
• Hud representin' the Snow White!! Coolness!
• Tech, keep 'em comin' please, they're just getting better as you dig. Lovely Crusader/Yankee Clipper view, and I neglected to say previously that yours may be the best shot of Laura's neon I've ever seen.
• Claudia, thank you for that capture of the Aqua Beach sign before they killed it. Nice context too.

Eh, they were still too big. Even for my hungry eyes, close-ups of signs don't need to be 800-900 pixels on the long side. 700 is plenty. So this post includes all the photos I'd previously posted today (except the Twilight Motel sign which I feel earns its size), shrunk to 700 px max; the original posts have been deleted.

As previously labeled, these are mostly from July 2008, a couple from October 2009.

Why stop? You have some great and unusual photos! Forgot to mention, by the way, I enjoyed the Sandpiper Motel sign in #23.

I hope we'll want to keep this going thoughout the summer, as people come back from their WW visits with new photos or find time to dig up more favorites.
