Morey's Fears (Oct. 14-15, 21-22, 28-29)
Sep 7th, 2011, 10:53am

Would love to get some dialogue going and possibly coordinate with others planning on making it down for any of the Morey's Fears weekend events in October.

[Cheap Plug alert] Rob and I will be down on Oct. 15 for the NJ Lighthouse Challenge, as we'll be signing copies of Hunt's Pier at Hereford Lighthouse in the afternoon. As of now, my plan is to head down that morning. The signing will likely wrap up sometime around 3 p.m. After that, I'll head up to the Boardwalk for late lunch/dinner, prior to Mariner's Landing opening for the evening.

We'll be staying overnight and heading back up to Philly on Sunday morning.

Could be a great (and very unique) opportunity to meet up, if anyone else plans on being down that night. These Halloween events are also a lot of fun to attend in groups.

With Morbid Manor planning to remain open on weekends through Halloween, we could also swing up there and pay them a visit before heading down to Mariner's.

I should be around that day.

Is Hunt's Legacy Part III still being screened the following Monday, Al?

I am planning to be down early Saturday morning and will be staying until Sunday.  It will be lots of fun to do Morey’s Fears in a group.  Trying to finalize plans today, but most likely will be staying at the Caribbean.

Not positive, but I will try to find out. Wish I could stay down until Monday, at any rate.

Excellent!  Cheesy

Not sure where we'll be staying yet. Morey's is offering package specials that "start at $199" at their resorts, but I'm assuming that's for two nights and we'll only be able to come down for one. Still, since I'll have the family down, I'll probably be looking for something in central WW. Depends on what's open...

Of course it's booked. Where else would doo-woppin geezers be staying on Fab Fifties Weekend?  Grin

You could try the Oceanic. I enjoyed staying there last year for a couple of nights. And it's a great location for boardwalk events.

Here's the official list of who's going to be open that weekend in case you forgot to look for it:

Thanks for the link, Kathi.  I was thinking about the Bel-Air which we stayed at a few times, but I would like to try something new.  Still undecided.

I wanted to try the Sea Scape.  They are running a special but it is for 3 nights.

Agreed.  We keep talking about the extension of the shoulder season... really, the two events that really seem to be catalysts for this are the 60's weekend in April and the 50's weekend in October.  It really keeps things from looking like a total ghost town on the weekends.  Although I think it's still a work in progress, as I remember a lot on the boards still being closed in April.  Maybe the Morey's official opening late April/early May still signifies the proper season opener Smiley

I'll sadly be too wrapped up in school, work, and everything else to make it, but on the bright side, it sounds like we'll have plenty of trip reports to hear about!  Can't wait to see some of the pictures....

The event is shaping up to be a big hit, and the theming has come together spectacularly.  Anybody planning on going to the very first night?

Great pic!

Reminds me of opening night for the Ghost Ship, but with scenery and effects ramped up 1,000 times.

Won't be able to make it down tonight, but we'll be there tomorrow night...
