Beesley's Point Bridge
Mar 7th, 2012, 6:10pm

From what I have read (http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/communities/northfield_linwood_somers-point/a nti-terrorism-fence-near-parkway-bridge-between-atlantic-cape-may/article_6601a52a-6229-11e1-bc81-0019bb2963f4.html ) the days are numbered for the Bessley's Point Bridge and it may get torn down next year. Has anyone here been on it or have any memories of it? I'm tempted to somehow stop by there on my way to Wildwood or on another day trip to get some pictures before it is gone forever.

BTW I found this excellent set of photos regarding the bridge

Odd they wouldn't replace it, but maybe diverting the Rt. 9 traffic hasn't been a problem?

Interesting they note Exit 20.  Ever drive past it at night?  Looks like it drops you into nowhere - I only figured out where it immediately lands last year after years of wondering.  Don't know what that says about me...  Roll Eyes Smiley

This bridge has been closed for quite a few years already, hasn't it?

The old bridge used to scare the hell out of me - especially at night. It seemed way to close to the waterline of the bay and when the water was rough it felt as if it was sinking...Can't say I'm all that sad to see the old bridge gone even though I always take a good look at it crossing the newer GSParkway span.    George
