I have insane musical tastes: from shoegazer, to electronica, to metal, to industrial.
Ever since the advent of mp3 players there seems to be a track that I listen to over and over on my ipod while I'm down there.
Unfortunately my memory fails me since it is usually from an album I just bought before the trip.

Though not for many this is the song I always listen to during my "pause" on the way back from walking the boardwalk sitting on a bench between the Convention Center and the Ocean Towers staring at the moon and ocean.    http://youtu.be/5Q4JwkRt7GE

I probably just ruined many peoples opinions of me.

The way I see it, growing up and going down to Wildwood year after year will always be defined by the compilation of songs that were popular at the time and added to that evolving summer soundtrack that we take with us throughout our lives. But for me the summer standard was THE SUMMER WIND by Mr. Sinatra followed closely by either HOT FUN IN THE SMMERTIME by Sly & Family Stone or THEME TO A SUMMER PLACDE by Percy Faith.     George

Some NICE choices there George!!!
How about this one? Summer Breeze - Seals & Croft #1 Hit(1972)...  '72, I was 12 at that time, some of my fondest vacation memories came from that era!

Wow, so many great summer songs.   I forgot about Summer Breeze; I was 8 at the time that song came out.   It does remind me of WW.   And I love "A summer Place".   I'm not sure if I was born yet for that one.  But it is a beautiful song to sit and watch the waves by.

There are a few classic tunes I associate with Wildwood like:
Wildwood Days
Under The Boardwalk - The Drifters
Hot Fun In The Summertime - Sly & The Family Stone (Lots of 70s classics for me actually)

But in recent years, I have a few new favorites...
Luce ~ Good Day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgta0u3ga70

DeSol ~ On My Way (My getting in the car and leaving for the shore song! Heh!)
http://youtu.be/wNkGWLj2TRw

I should also add that the fellas who DJ the Kite Festival every year have a great selection of summertime tunes that they play all Memorial Weekend Long! I'm always writing down and taking note of some new song each year. Speaking of which... after MONTHS of being depressed that I couldn't afford the Kite Festival this year, multiple friends have come through and offered me places to stay. To say that I'm grateful and touched is extremely inadequate! :') So I'll be "on my way" Friday! Woo Hoooo!

I agree with you about the country music thing. "Toes"  and "Knee Deep" by Zac Brown Band come to mind.

ZBB is incredible. I'm seeing them on Thursday, and ANYTHING by them has a summer feel to it.

If anyone here likes the Beach Boys check out The Explorers Club, they are a newer band and have a very similar sound. Great for Summer!

Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, MD. They were awesome, but they oversold the lawn and we had trouble finding a spot. Ended up settling for the very edge of the lawn area, right by the paths around the venue where all the concession stands are. So the sound wasn't the best, the view of the stage didn't exist, and we had a lot of crowd noise to battle with.

Still, they put on an AWESOME show. You'll hear a LOT of covers, but also all the singles and some great performances. His fiddle player is absolutely unreal.

A couple songs:
Wildwood Days by Bobby Rydell...and, I saw him do it LIVE about two years ago. Wink

Under the Boardwalk- Well, I think it's still played on the Zoom Phloom, and I have memories under the boardwalk.

Boardwalk Body by CKY.  CKY is a local band in West Chester, PA, notable for their association with Bam Margera of MTV, and his various shows like "Jackass" and "Viva La Bam".  The singer was down in Wildwood one summer, I believe the late '70s or early '80s, and was walking to the beach, and cops were just under the boardwalk, as a dead body was found.  A bit morbid, but the song is good.

Sherry by Frankie Valli.  Really, anything by Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons, as I recall driving around WW back in '02, '03, '04 and '05 with my grandfather.  He loved the group and he'd blast them in his car, at the motel, etc., and seeing as they're from Jersey, all the better.  Plus, I dig the music.  Despite the fact I'm 'too young' to.

I don't exactly have a favorite song, for me it's more like anything from the 50's and beyond. I have a lot of memories of my sister and I squished in the back seat of my dad's '79 Thunderbird listening to my parents' "oldies" stations heading down the parkway. To this day I'm always tempted to put one of the stations on but I know my fiance wouldn't get it.

ELO - Can't Get It Out of My Head comes to mind  every time I find my mind wandering when I am at the shore.
