Historic Hotels of America:  Caribbean Motel
May 23rd, 2012, 2:56am

While researching something else, I came across the Caribbean's listing on the Historic Hotels of America's site.  It's nicely done:

http://www.historichotels.org/hotels-resorts/caribbean-motel-new-jersey/

At the bottom of the page, there's a link to another page on their site with further architectural and historical information on the Caribbean (and the Wildwoods).

Not only in Wildwood, but I think it is the only actual motel included as part of the Historic Hotels of America, period.  I'd need to check to confirm though...

If that is true, it would be nothing short of amazing!

It is.

From what I saw by quickly searching through their site, it really is the only actual motel they've recognized, and one of three Mid-Century Modern hotels or motels period (one of these three - by coincidence - is Hotel Valley Ho that I started a thread about recently).

The Caribbean is great and would be the PERFECT WW hotel if it was located towards the middle of the boardwalk.

I was proud to be a part of the Caribbean Motel
George & Carolyn really care for preserving this gem of a motel.
As far as the location
perfect just where it is! I saw what happens the closer you get to the action. I lived it and Worked it!!

I like the Carribean where it is. That middle of the boardwalk location doesn't seem like the right kind of "environment" for a place this special. Just my opinion.  George
