The
City of Wildwood recently re-zoned its "Hotel/Motel" and "Tourism/Entertainment"
districts to allow for high-rise development of up to 25 stories. In conjunction
with the Doo Wop Preservation League, the city has undertaken an innovative effort
to require new building proposals in these zones to go through a design review
process where developers, architects and planners work together to ensure that
new buildings incorporate "Doo Wop" design elements to blend with the
city's historic commercial architecture.
