Educational
Opportunities at the “Doo-Wop Experience” Museum The
Doo Wop Preservation League is planning an educational program for students in
grades K through 12 at the new Doo Wop Experience historic museum in Wildwood
By-the-Sea. When the program is implemented, student groups will be able to visit
this new museum for a guided tour of Doo Wop period culture. Students of all ages
will be given information about the special culture and lifestyle of the 1950s
and 1960s Wildwoods. Doo-Wop period history, architectural design elements
and post-war era culture will be showcased in the new buildings unique,
educational exhibits. The Wildwoods had the largest collection of 50s and
60s architecture on the East coast. In fact, there are very few places in
the entire country that can claim the architectural creativity of the Wildwoods
motels and buildings and neon signs. Rather than decry the loss of some of these
treasures, the Doo Wop Experience preserves their place in the resorts history.
The excitement created by the design of architecture and furniture, cars and music
of the period will be explored in the museum through photographs, memorabilia,
furniture, music, text and video. It has been 50 years since the peak of the Doo
Wop period. We want to keep inspiring succeeding generations. Contact us info@doowopusa.org
for more information about the new building, officially named the Doo Wop Experience,
and the new educational program. |
