It looks like the new developer wants to make Wildwood more like Key West. Not sure why they wouldn't build on what makes Wildwood unique.. Here is the article:

The guy doesn't get Wildwood but property it still cheaper there than just about anyplace else on the Jersey shore, plus I think the city is desperate for any kind of development on Pacific. I'm sure it has been said before especially on the old forum that the biggest mistake they ever made was closing Pacific Ave. to traffic. It never fully recovered.
That article really angered me. That developer is really out of touch about what makes Wildwood special. If people wanted Key West, they'd go there. He's an idiot and people with that mentality sadly will be the death of Wildwood.
I'm not that crazy about a Key West look on Pacific Ave, but that area has been really hurting for a very long time, maybe 30 years going back to when they closed it to traffic for many years to try to make it into a Cape May mall type area. The clubs and bars had been dying there but it does almost seem like the Shamrock was set up and I can't blame the owner selling at a high price. As the old saying goes money talks and all else walks in the end even if we don't like it.
I don't understand why they want to change it. Doo Wop is one of the appeals of the Wildwoods. I (and I'm sure many others) have wanted them to fix up Pacific Ave because it's such a cool street with so many possibilities, but I'm not so sure about this.
