Wildwood Deck Collapse

News reports of a multi-story deck collapse with multiple injuries at a house on the 200 block of E. Baker Ave. in Wildwood. Incident occurred at around 6 PM Saturday evening.


6 ABC Action News is reporting "At least 21 injured".


This is also the weekend of the Firefighters' convention in Wildwood.

222 East Baker. I stayed there for 5 Summers in the 1970's when I worked in Wildwood. Used to be Helena Apts. before they turned the place into condos. I just parked by there on Monday evening as I hadn't been by the place in years. So many memories of the place. Gave me an eerie feeling watching the news this morning and immediately recognizing the building.

So that was an old building that was renovated into condos? I guess they rushed that job...

Yep, like dozens of other Wildwood properties. This was built in the 1920's. Those porches and posts were all wood when I stayed there in the 70's.

Look at the posts after rehab in the before photo. Something seems off. Just hope all recuperate from this tragedy.
