11-6-21 Day Trip

in Trip Reports

We were in Wildwood for the day to check up on the shore house and the island. We got a good lunch at the Mud Hen and then hit the boards for a bit. We played fascination in the Retro Arcade and talked with Randy for a bit, then hit Gateway and got $70 in free play just for stopping in. The weather was nice, sunny with a breezy chill. The island was fairly empty, but not a ghost town yet. Here are a few pictures and observations:

Wildwood neon in the Mud Hen.

They were demolishing the old Cape Trinity Catholic School on New Jersey Ave in Wildwood.

Not much was open on the Boardwalk.

If you were a VIP member, you got freeplay money this weekend just for stopping into Gateway.

We played some Fascination in Randy's arcade and I tried to give him some advice on expanding his YouTube channel to start showing off his massive collection of amusement memorabilia. He listened and might consider my suggestions.

The new Bubba's Liquors on New Jersey Ave installed the roadside sign.

The North Wildwood Marina on New York Ave installed a new sign too.

We probably won't return until the new year, so that concludes our 2021 Wildwood Season.

Great pictures and report as always Bill. Very sad seeing the school torn down and not very happy with what's being built in it's place- I sadly see that as a trend going forward. Maybe we will have some unseasonably warm days sometime over the next few months which may prompt another off-season trip...we can hope!

Great pictures! The ones of Cape Trinity were so sad, though.

I'm glad you had a great time. I usually like to throw in at least one day trip after the fall car show but now that I'm back at work I'm just going to have to wait and see when I have the time. At least it's nice to know there's always next year.

I went inside in July and took photos of the Cape Trinity building's gymnasium.

Oh, wow! A lot of coolness in one article. That Wildwood sign at Mudhen is awesome. I have to go there and photograph it myself. I'm not a drinker, so I don't frequent breweries. I'm saddened about the Cape Trinity demolition, but I went in and took many photos this summer. I'm surprised that Randy didn't confiscate your camera for taking the photo of the machines at Randyland! He's an interesting guy, but he acts like he owns the copyright on the machines' likenesses! It was much like a sign place I visited on Pacific Ave. He scolded Stella Star and I for taking pictures, pictures of beautiful signs from the past.

My family drove around on 11-6 too. Maybe we passed by you sometime that day. My younger son loves to ride on weekends and look at all the doo wop buildings.

I didn't even know that Marina sign was erected. Thanks for sharing everything with us. Keep posting your pix.

Yeah, Randy can be an interesting character...but I don't think he enforces the "no pictures" rule as much anymore. In fact, I don't remember seeing any of those signs in there lately. I know he was big about that when he was in the boardwalk mall.

@DarkInThePark There was a place by Route 66 on Juniper & the boardwalk, right by the ramp, and they had a Zoltan machine, and the guy was against photographs. we weren't there long enough to see if it was Randy at that location, but it seemed in0character. It was July 1st this year.

@nickym70 Hmmm. Randy's place is a couple blocks south of there on Magnolia. I'm not sure where you were.
