We were in Wildwood for the day to check up on the shore house and the island. We got a good lunch at the Mud Hen and then hit the boards for a bit. We played fascination in the Retro Arcade and talked with Randy for a bit, then hit Gateway and got $70 in free play just for stopping in. The weather was nice, sunny with a breezy chill. The island was fairly empty, but not a ghost town yet. Here are a few pictures and observations:
Wildwood neon in the Mud Hen.
They were demolishing the old Cape Trinity Catholic School on New Jersey Ave in Wildwood.
Not much was open on the Boardwalk.
If you were a VIP member, you got freeplay money this weekend just for stopping into Gateway.
We played some Fascination in Randy's arcade and I tried to give him some advice on expanding his YouTube channel to start showing off his massive collection of amusement memorabilia. He listened and might consider my suggestions.
The new Bubba's Liquors on New Jersey Ave installed the roadside sign.
The North Wildwood Marina on New York Ave installed a new sign too.
We probably won't return until the new year, so that concludes our 2021 Wildwood Season.
Great pictures and report as always Bill. Very sad seeing the school torn down and not very happy with what's being built in it's place- I sadly see that as a trend going forward. Maybe we will have some unseasonably warm days sometime over the next few months which may prompt another off-season trip...we can hope!
Great pictures! The ones of Cape Trinity were so sad, though.
I'm glad you had a great time. I usually like to throw in at least one day trip after the fall car show but now that I'm back at work I'm just going to have to wait and see when I have the time. At least it's nice to know there's always next year.
Thanks for the report and pics. Great as usual!
Oh, wow! A lot of coolness in one article. That Wildwood sign at Mudhen is awesome. I have to go there and photograph it myself. I'm not a drinker, so I don't frequent breweries. I'm saddened about the Cape Trinity demolition, but I went in and took many photos this summer. I'm surprised that Randy didn't confiscate your camera for taking the photo of the machines at Randyland! He's an interesting guy, but he acts like he owns the copyright on the machines' likenesses! It was much like a sign place I visited on Pacific Ave. He scolded Stella Star and I for taking pictures, pictures of beautiful signs from the past.
My family drove around on 11-6 too. Maybe we passed by you sometime that day. My younger son loves to ride on weekends and look at all the doo wop buildings.
I didn't even know that Marina sign was erected. Thanks for sharing everything with us. Keep posting your pix.
Always love your WW trip reports. ❤️👍🏻
Thanks for the update and pics , can't wait until next summer
