We had a great day trip to Wildwood today to check on the shore house. The weather was sunny and nice, although a little windy. Here are some pictures and observations:
Gateway 26 was open, and there were some people in there although not very many. My son played $25, but didn't get any major jackpots.
Cathie's Critters in North Wildwood was open and they had some nice gifts in there. I liked this mermaid skeleton, although it was $115...so I didn't buy it.
I was also amazed to see this Beach Outlet open in North Wildwood. We didn't see anyone in there buying flip flops and bathing suits.
The boards in front of the North Wildwood Ed's Funcade got replaced.
I didn't notice anything else on the boardwalk that was open.
The right lift hill of the Sea Serpent is being refurbished. I also noticed a cover on one of the gondolas on the big wheel. Maybe they are testing a way to protect them?
They shrink wrapped these tables at Harry's Corner like they do boats.
We had a delicious lunch at the Lobster House in Cape May. I got the lobster melt on an English muffin and thought it was great. I still think they should come up with some updated uniforms for the waitresses.
The Sand Jamm Surf Shop still stays open for the winter.
They painted a beach ball on the other big water tower in Wildwood. During the summer, this water tower was only white on the top and blue on the bottom.
Well, it was fun while it lasted. Hopefully we will get another day trip in during the winter.
Thanks for the report, it's great seeing everything in the off season perspective. It's amazing the difference between a day in December and a day in July. Winter was the only time I ever ate at the Lobster House, I always loved my meals there but you can't get near it in the Summer.
Really enjoyed the off season flavor and pics. Thanks for posting....Warren
I love seeing the boards in the off season. great to see that they've replaced some boards....I hope somehow, some way, the rest of the boardwalk that needs to be replaced gets fixed. there is a serene beauty about the empty boardwalk. I need to get down there in the winter...I've only done it once, and it was brief.
