I was down with the kids from Friday to Sunday and the weather was beautiful. My son worked on Saturday and Sunday, but we still got to do many of our favorite things. Here are some pictures and observations.
Some of the Coke neon was out on Friday night, but it was working by Saturday.
The lights on the Ferris wheel looked great and I noticed many new patterns.
The boardwalk mall arcade didn't look half bad. Most of the games seemed to be operational now. We still didn't see anyone in there though.
Morey's hot dogs are $2 now.
New banner for the golf and photos.
Ghost Ship is closed again this season. I have a feeling it will never open again...
Some type of art shop at the 3000 block.
Some "It's Not a Donut" shop also in the 3000 block where the lobster roll place was. I'm not sure what exactly they are selling...but it didn't look like anything I was interested in.
Yes, I got Mack's...and yes, it was great!
Balloon Race still not together.
Dante's Dungeon got a new paint job and a few new changes inside.
They added epoxy paint with traction under the Zoom Flume at the back of Morey's Pier.
A new candy/ice cream shop is going in...but it wasn't open yet.
The new boardwalk and railings seemed decent. They even added some new concrete at places to level the transition into the shops.
The expanded dog park was packed.
The new candy & smoke shop next to Randy's Retro Arcade was open.
They are still working on the foundation of the old Shamrock house which was moved down from Pacific.
The J1 housing on Pacific is still coming together.
Some temporary life-size statues were added to the park at New Jersey and Glenwood.
And finally, I noticed many of these 5g towers going up around the island. I guess they are trying to improve cell signals during the season.
In a week, I will be taking my son down for the season. It seems like summer just ended!
Thanks for the great pics as always.
That stinks about the Ghost Ship. I never got to bring my Fiancé' in as we started dating at the beginning of COVID, it was always a fun experience.
Noticed you mentioned lots of teens at night, it's been a bit hectic at Seaside the last few weeks too. Nothing really bad as far as I could see other than the usual drunken stupidity but Prom season should be coming to an end soon which will hopefully mean less of that and more families.
Great report as always! Oh man, I'm really bummed about the Ghost Ship...I hope it's not true that it's closed for good. The boardwalk desperately needs a walk through haunt. I still have a small hope that it can be repurposed and renovated into a new, smaller, Castle Dracula...wishful thinking, I know. But a unique idea nontheless.
Thank you for another great report! These pictures are getting me very excited for my upcoming trip! I hope your son has another great summer season working at the arcade!
Oh, and as for the Ghost Ship, I wonder if it's closed due to lack of staffing or if there are other reasons. What has it been, three years since it's been closed?
Great report and pictures as always. Too bad about the Ghost Ship but I think you may be right. Dante's looks great and it seems it has been around forever. I hope your son has a great summer!
Nice trip report. The J1 housing is now going to be a hotel. That should be interesting.
We were down for the day, Saturday. It was a gorgeous day. The boardwalk was packed. It was sad to see people smoking dope right in front of the police on the boardwalk.
