Last October, we decided to take a short 3-hour drive to Wildwood for a quick fix. The weather could not have been more beautiful, and there was still a nice amount of activity on the island. This has become a tradition as it's usually our last time coming down for the year...we drive around, walk on the boardwalk, and eat at our favorite places (that are still open). We also enjoy going into Cape May to see all the fall decor. It's our time to say "See you soon" to our happy place before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Here are some pictures from that trip.

Just catching up with things at the board...looks like a magical trip!! October seems special down there for sure!
Yea, the WW Walgreens has a cool sign, I wish more businesses would do the same. As far as packing goes it seems we bring too much. I always bring jeans for late September but don't think I have worn them even once.
I, too, miss all the Rite Aids. At least the Walgreens' sign in Wildwood is Googie (Doo Wop) style.
We usually wind up in either CVS or Walgreen's at least once also but have never forgotten to bring anything really important. I tend to check things off a list as they are being packed and as anal as it seems it does work for me. I starting doing this years ago after I forgot an envelope of cash home and had to go back to get it. Luckily we just left 10 minutes before so it wasn't a major pain in the neck but it made me extra careful.
Walmart became an inside joke after all the trips we've had to make after having discovered items we'd forgotten to pack (the year my husband forgot his swim trunks, the time my pajama top fell apart, the time my husband forgot to pack socks, etc.). Aside from that, we usually stop in CVS or Walgreens at least once, especially since our son was born. Of course, I miss the Rite Aid that used to be in Wildwood. That was always where'd we pick up a drink after getting off the boardwalk to watch the cars do burnouts during the car show.
Great pics. Thanks for posting them. And on a side note, I miss K-Mart too.
In addition to Walmart there are Walgreens and CVS on Park Blvd. in Wildwood if you ever need toiletries. More expensive but closer.
Kmart really let their buildings get run down and didn't compete. There was one in my town and there are 3 Walmart stores within 3 miles of my home. I buy certain things there like toiletries and and certain other items but no real big shopping.
We didn't have a Wal-Mart until 2007. Before that, there was a K-Mart. I missed the K-Mart, but the Wal-Mart put it out of business or something did, a few years ago. It's a shame because K-Mart didn't compete. Instead, they raised their prices. IT must be part of some corporate-wide policy where their hands were tied and they couldn't do anything on a local level to compete. It's a shame Sears took them over. Anyway, the Rio Mall (K-Mart and connected stores) are a source of tons of nostalgia for members of my generation, and, of course, myself, too. One day I'll have to tell those stories. Also, K-Mart used to be a Grant's store in the 60s and earliest 1970s.
Great pictures and it looked like just a perfect day. I love being down there in late September and October. I would have been tempted to get a room too.
Awesome! October is my favorite month to be in Wildwood.
