Since my husband had to work on Saturday, we didn't leave until 2:30; however, this time around it only took us 2 1/2 hours to get down there. We drove in around 5:30, and usually, we like to drive around before we check-in but I wanted to get settled. I was happily surprised to hear that we had been moved up to the 5th floor right next to my usual room. (When I made the reservation I was told the only room left was on the first floor)
After we brought everything up I went back to the office to catch up with the woman behind the front desk (I've known her since I was in high school) and then we left to go to Acme for snacks and drinks. We also picked up dinner from Little Italy. The muscles in red sauce and linguini pesto were phenomenal! We ate in the room while we watched a lightning storm in the distance. It was a low-key evening since the weather looked iffy and we just hung out. After tucking my son in, I left out some salad for the Easter Bunny and hid his basket.
The next morning we woke up early and watched as my son looked for his Easter basket. This year the bunny hid it in the cabinet in the bathroom. Shortly after, we packed everything up, got ourselves together, said our goodbyes to the staff, and checked out. After grabbing some breakfast sandwiches from Wawa we took a ride to the Cape May Zoo where we spent a couple of hours. We then spent some time on the boardwalk and enjoyed our first Curleys fries of the season. Even though the rides were closed, there was a good amount of shops and food places open and a decent crowd. The weather held out nicely and we were able to walk around with sweatshirts (a relief because I forgot to bring our coats). We made it to the point where the boardwalk is closed and then decided to drive down to Sunset Beach, where we spent about 5 minutes because the wind was a little too much. At this point, it was almost 5 so we decided to stop for dinner and wound up at the Ugly Mug where we enjoyed oysters and scallops. After one last drive around Wildwood, we got on the parkway and started our trip back to reality.
Even though it was a short trip, we had a great time being in our little bubble. I'm really looking forward to our vacation in June.
Great pics. Really enjoyed them........Warren
Also, I like the photo of the Wildwoods sign. It's nice to see people use more interesting angles than the same old straight-on.
Sam's or Mack's Pizza make good stops on a short trip. Gateway 26 is open Friday-Sunday, or maybe more days now. Cool Scoops still opens at 6PM. Check out the Shore Store just a block or two south of Cool Scoops. The Wildwood Museum halfway between Spicer & Spencer on Pacific Avenue is a nice educational point of interest on weekends.
Sounds like you and the family had a great time is better than none! You squeezed a lot into 24 hours. Nice pictures.
You can still have an enjoyable time on a short trip and I'm glad you did! Nice pics! Summer will be here before you know it :)
Nice report and pictures Nicole....I'm glad you had a good trip!
