We were down to Wildwood from April 5th to the 8th and had a great time. It was nice on the 6th, but got colder as the week went on. Here are some observations.
The hotel on Pacific seems to be close to finishing. They put huge digital signs on the outside walls...not sure if it makes it look any better or worse.
The old bank across the street from the hotel is completely gone new...even the vault. I assume this will be the parking lot for the hotel.
The condos on Glenwood seem to be finishing up too. They are building a maintenance building on the property (left of the photo).
JerseyJoes is opening at the former location of Round Hole/Jimbos/Athen's Restaurant. They also put a historic plaque in front of the building. One thing that has stayed the same since I was a little kid eating here when it was the Athen's, is the chandeliers. I can't believe they have survived through all the different transformations of the restaurant...with the original globes too!
The are changing the monitors in the draw poker machines in Mariner's Arcade. Now they have wide LCD monitors at the top of the machine.
There is still much work to be done at Adventure Pier.
Someone was trying to sell an old Model T on the boardwalk.
The old "Den of Thieves" sign from when it use to be a dark ride. It is now inside the entrance of the minigolf. I don't remember seeing this sign last year.
They re-hung the Mack's Pizza sign after they did a do-it-yourself LED restoration on it. I was hoping they were going to have ABS signs restore it correctly...with new neon....but it wasn't so. At least the outside chasing bulbs still work.
I, of course, got my first Mack's for the season and it was fantastic! I actually got two slices on two different days and both times it was great!
Gatway 26 got some new games and they were pretty busy on Saturday. In fact, the entire boardwalk was pretty busy on Saturday...so maybe that's a good sign for the season!
Great trip report! We were actually down early Saturday evening and stayed through Sunday. We were freezing and it was probably the coldest Easter we've experienced down there. I'm glad the boardwalk was busy on Saturday because it was pretty quiet on Sunday. I'm thinking it probably would have been busier if it wasn't so cold. We went on briefly to enjoy some Mack's and Curleys.
