My son and I went down to Wildwood for a day trip to check on the house. The weather was nice...chilly, but sunny. Here are some pictures and observations.
Vegas is staying open all winter this year. They are open everyday from 8 to 2.
Gateway put a digital sign in the back.
They have a used BMW as the giveaway car this year. I think it's a 2012...but the workers weren't sure.
Several games were moved around and this new game was near the IceBall.
A leftover from Halloween.
Parts of the concrete supports were resurfaced.
The new wood is on the beach waiting to be installed on the boardwalk.
General maintenance going on at Morey's Surfside Pier...except for the carousel which is being completely overhauled.
No work appears to be happening at the dumpy Glenwood block.
Wood is already going down at Maple Ave.
Unfortunately, Mack's is still closed. The police man sign is looking very worn. Part of the frame was missing, so perhaps it will get refurbished this year.
The Eleonor's Gifts sign was recently removed. Only part of the light frame was still present.
Most of the Ferris Wheel gondolas were removed.
The Castle Dracula mural on the side of the Boardwalk Mall looks complete.
The Adventure Pier boat tag was removed to start working on the food court.
The Adventure Pier Kohr's Brother's was also demolished. All that's left is the neon cone sign laying on the beach.
The new Sinclair gas station was open on Rio Grande Ave.
The J1 housing which is now supposed to be a hotel is almost finished on the outside.
On the inside there is still a lot of work.
The former bank on Schellenger and Pacific is mostly demolished...except for the vault. I guess this will take some big equipment to break up.
The former Shamrock.
We had a nice day and it was fun seeing some of the progress down the shore. We plan on returning at the end of the month...although I doubt much will be different.
I enjoy your off-season reports! They really keep me going when I can't get down there. Didn't the building with It's Sugar and all those other shops get sold a few months ago? When we were down for Easter, I was happy to see them open, but surprised there's still no improvements being made.
