Are a lot of the condos in Wildwood empty, as in vacant? How many? Don't people own them? And if so, wouldn't they try to make use of their properties?
I agree that a new hotel is better than empty buildings. By the convention center, the Oceanic is supposed to renovate and expand over the next few years. There is also supposed to be a new convention center hotel. A Marriott Residence Inn was the selected developer's proposed brand. The Starlux was supposed to be expanding, but nothing has started there after the mini-golf course was built. There is also the old Recreation Center lot that was rumored to become a microtel. By the post office, there were plans for a Hilton Home2Suites, but there hasn't been any news recently. So, there is definitely a lot of new/renovation hotel activity that could be coming.
A new hotel is far better than what is there now and more empty dark condos. The mid town area near the convention center can use new lodging choices. It would be great if the new building were done in the mid century style, not sure that is required though. In any case it is a plus for the island in my opinion even with all the variances.
QUESTION: Do new commercial properties in the Wildwoods have Doo-Wop requiements, like guidelines on signs, color schemes, etc.? If yes, where can I learn more about it?
The Stardust... I think my brother's first band performed there in the 1990s. Their name was Abnormal Adolescents.
A Hotel is sure a far cry better then empty building and more condos. That's for sure
Hotel was a given, but let's hope it doesn't slide pass zoning. It should meet all requirements and follow Doo Wop design.
looks like this will be where Stardust is, and further down including Colleen's. I knew the time was limited, but I will miss the blue Stardust building. ties into an early WW memory of my older cousins going to Stardust, they say they had a blast and I was too young to go.
