Another motel has been sold. Mahalo Hotels LLC bought the Ocean Holiday for $4.55 million. Since it was bought by a hotel company, hopefully they will continue to run the motel.
I was surprised to see the OH sold. There was a period of time when that was the only place we'd stay. My family and I came back last year and were really sad to see that the rooms were not as kept up as they were years ago. I'm hoping the new owners are able to fix it up to what it once was.
The bike path row of motels from The Adventurer to The Oceanview is really nice. It would seem particularly out of place were a condo to be built in any one of those spots and I wonder too if approval would be more difficult in that area. Warren.
wow a lot of sales recently. The good thing is we have not heard about any motels being lost to developers, so hopefully this just means the island is getting some new blood to run the current establishments and make them even better. I've never stayed at the Ocean Holiday, though it's a familiar sight when we are down. I do hope the DWPL reaches out to new owners when motels are bought to try and help them understand the whole mid-century modern thing.
